

Born and raised in El Monte, California, David earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1994 and was named Eagle Scout of the Year for the Lucky Baldwin District. David attended the University of Southern California and completed his undergraduate studies in 1998, graduating Magna Cum Laude, earning a Bachelor's of Music Degree in the Music Industry. After graduating from USC, David spent a year teaching kindergarten in El Monte at Voorhis Elementary School within the Mountain View School District where he taught twenty (20) Spanish speaking 5 year-olds in a self-contained classroom how to proficiently read, write and speak by year's end.
In 1999, David continued his education at Southwestern University School of Law earning his Juris Doctor in the two-Year ABA approved SCALE Program. The SCALE program gave David a host of opportunities including the chance to extern at Virgin Records America in the Company's Legal and Business Affairs Division where he worked on transactional projects for artists including Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and the Rolling Stones, as well as agreements for "American Idol."
However, David found his true passion once he joined Carpenter, Rothans and Dumont as a trial lawyer. For nearly a decade David has defended law enforcement officers in 42 U.S.C. ยง 1983 lawsuits involving all facets of modern police practices. David has successfully tried to verdict cases involving positional asphyxia, officer involved shootings, excessive force and unlawful searches/seizures. David has represented numerous police chiefs in the Southern California Area, Sherriff Lee Baca, police officers and deputies from numerous law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura Counties as well as federal agents/officials from the Department of Homeland Security.
David's jury trial experience additionally includes medical malpractice cases, elder abuse cases, drowning cases and personal injury/wrongful death cases.
David's appellate experience before the California Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit not only involves police misconduct issues but additionally includes areas of law such as anti-SLAPP litigation.
David is currently licensed with the State Bar of California and the Central District of the United States District Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Tax Court and the United States Supreme Court.
David remains active in city politics, Cub Scouts, liturgical music, Baldwin Stocker Elementary School and other community activities.
