Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Jonathan attended the University of California Los Angeles and completed his undergraduate studies in 1998, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English. After graduating from UCLA, Jonathan briefly worked for American Income Life Insurance Company and then spent two years working for Los Angeles Unified School District as the Head Coach for the girls’ varsity and junior varsity basketball teams at Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga, California.

In 2000, Jonathan continued his education at Southwestern University School of Law. Three years later, in the spring of 2003, Jonathan graduated magna cum laude and earned his Juris Doctorate degree. During his first year of law school, Jonathan worked part-time as an after-school tutor at nearby Hoover Elementary School, one of the largest elementary schools in the country which is comprised primarily of immigrant non-English speaking children. During the summer after his first year of law school, Jonathan worked as a law clerk at the firm of Brown, Winfield & Canzoneri. During the summer after his second year of law school, Jonathan worked as a law clerk for Dependency Court Legal Services, where he worked with attorneys who represented children who had been abused and/or neglected.

While at Southwestern, Jonathan was on the Dean’s List for all three years of his attendance. During his second year of law school, Jonathan was a Staff Member for the Southwestern University Law Review and during his third year, Jonathan was a Lead Articles Editor for the Southwestern Law Review. Jonathan also received the Dean’s Merit Award and the Professor Norman Karlin Scholarship for academic excellence.

For the majority of 2004, Jonathan worked as a law clerk and subsequently an associate attorney for the Law Offices of Glenn Ward Calsada in Los Angeles, California. Jonathan’s work with Mr. Calsada entailed handling a large number of civil litigation cases for both plaintiffs and defendants, most notably in the field of real estate, litigating bankruptcy cases in federal court, and representing individuals filing for bankruptcy. Jonathan was admitted to the California State Bar in April 2004 and is licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Jonathan is also a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Jonathan currently resides in Los Angeles, California and remains active by his continued participation in recreational basketball, softball, and volleyball leagues.
